The Old City

The Old City is a space for slow visual reading. Stone, shadow, market, and gate are elements in one text. Knowledge-based wandering prefers to move through the gates, then the markets, then the courtyards.

Inside the walls the daily path intersects the path of worship: from Damascus Gate to the markets, and from the Haram gates to the prayer halls. The page is not a detailed tourist guide to every alley.
