Damascus Gate (Bab al-Amud)
One of the Old City's most prominent and busiest gates in daily life, on the northern wall.
Damascus Gate (Bab al-Amud) is among Jerusalem’s gates most present in daily memory. It stands on the northern side of the Old City wall; paths branch from it toward the markets and then toward routes closer to the Haram.
Name and use
It is also known in other contexts as Damascus Gate. What matters for knowledge is understanding its location and its role in organizing movement—not memorizing every name at once.
